Straight out of Melbourne, Dante Exum arrived as the fifth pick of the 2014 draft, having skipped college entirely. The teenage guard played all 82 games as a rookie — only the 10th Jazz rookie ever to do so — but an ACL tear in 2015 began a run of shoulder, ankle and knee injuries that shadowed his five Utah seasons before a December 2019 trade to Cleveland for Jordan Clarkson.
Born in East Melbourne to American parents, Exum rebuilt his career the long way — FC Barcelona, then an ABA League title with Partizan Belgrade in 2023 — before returning with Dallas and reaching the 2024 NBA Finals. He also won bronze with Australia at the Tokyo Olympics.
HOW HE CAME & WENTUtah took him fifth overall in 2014 and stuck with him through five injury-shortened seasons, until the December 2019 trade that sent him and two second-rounders to Cleveland for Jordan Clarkson.
