Jim Farmer

One collector is trying to find a single signature from every man who ever played for the Jazz — all 370 of them, from the 1974 New Orleans team to today. For many of them, this page is the only one on the internet. Here is Jim Farmer: what he did on the floor, a few things most people never knew, and every card that carries his name. If you own something he signed — or you know who might — there is a note at the foot of this page.

Dothan, Alabama raised him, and the University of Alabama polished the 6-foot-4 guard whom the Mavericks took 20th overall in 1987. Farmer's NBA path crossed five teams in parts of five seasons, with the Jazz signing him in January 1989 and his best stretch coming in Denver in 1990-91, when he averaged 10 points over 25 games.

Before the pros he saw the wider world, touring the Orient with an Athletes in Action team in 1984. He graduated in 1982 from Houston Academy in his hometown of Dothan.

HOW HE CAME & WENTDallas took him 20th overall in 1987, and Utah signed him to a 10-day contract on January 4, 1989, as the replacement when the club waived Bart Kofoed.
