Derrick Favors

Utah acquired Derrick Favors at 19, the centerpiece of the February 2011 trade that sent Deron Williams to New Jersey. The Georgia Tech product stayed eight seasons the first time — a career-high 35 points against Indiana in 2015, his 500th game in a Jazz uniform in 2018, and a place among the franchise's top ten in both scoring and rebounding.

Atlanta raised him. At South Atlanta High he scored 38 points with 21 rebounds in the 2009 state championship game and was MVP of the McDonald's All-American Game. After a year in New Orleans he signed back with Utah in 2020 — the rare veteran who chose to return.

HOW HE CAME & WENTHe came to Utah as the centrepiece of the Deron Williams trade in February 2011, left in free agency in 2019 and came back in November 2020. In July 2021 the Jazz sent him and a first-round pick to Oklahoma City purely to duck the luxury tax — the move put them about $13 million under the line and paid for re-signing Mike Conley.
