The third Indigenous Australian to play for his national team, Mills went 55th in the 2009 draft out of Saint Mary's and turned a bench role in San Antonio into a 2014 championship. At the Tokyo Olympics he led the Boomers to their first medal, and he stands fifth among Olympic basketball's all-time scorers. Utah was a late-career stop in 2024-25 before a deadline trade to the Clippers.
Born in Canberra of Torres Strait Islander and Aboriginal descent, Mills is the son of a mother taken from her family as part of the Stolen Generations and a great-nephew of land rights pioneer Eddie Mabo. He now serves as general manager of the University of Hawaii men's program.
HOW HE CAME & WENTHe signed with the rebuilding Jazz on September 5, 2024 as a 36-year-old veteran, and was traded to the Clippers with Drew Eubanks at the 2025 deadline.
