No scholarship offers came for the 5-foot-7 senior out of Friendswood, Texas, so Price walked on at Nicholls State, grew six inches, and transferred to Utah Valley State — where a 24.3-point senior season made him the school's first NBA player. Undrafted, he broke in with Sacramento, then signed with the Jazz in 2007 and spent four seasons backing up Deron Williams. His signature moment: a chase-down block of Luke Walton in the 2008 playoffs, delivered with four fresh stitches over his eye.
Phoenix, Portland, Orlando, and the Lakers followed, with career-best numbers in Los Angeles in 2014-15. Price stayed in the game after retiring, working as a scout for the Phoenix Suns.
HOW HE CAME & WENTUndrafted, he signed with Utah in July 2007 and stayed four seasons, the longest stop of a twelve-year career. After the 2011 lockout the Jazz did not bring him back, signing Jamaal Tinsley and Keith McLeod instead. He joined Phoenix that December.
