Two points a game in high school — that was the whole resume. Preston planned to study journalism at Central Florida before a growth spurt, a prep-school year and highlights posted to Twitter earned him an offer from Ohio University. There he became a triple-double point guard, MAC tournament MVP, and the engine of Ohio's 2021 NCAA upset of Virginia, then went 33rd in the draft.
Foot surgery erased his rookie year with the Clippers. The Jazz signed him to a two-way deal in January 2024, and with the Salt Lake City Stars he flourished — G League Player of the Month in March 2024 and All-G League First Team. He graduated cum laude from Ohio in 2022.
