A single NBA season, 1989–90 with the Utah Jazz, is the sum of Eric Johnson's time in the league. Born in Brooklyn in 1966, he came from a basketball household — his brother is Vinnie Johnson.
The record lists him as American-Spanish, and for good reason: after Utah he spent most of the 1990s playing in Spain, above all for Valencia. A short NBA career, a famous basketball brother, and a signature that takes patience to track down.
HOW HE CAME & WENTUndrafted in 1989, he walked into the Jazz free-agent camp hoping to back up John Stockton and lasted about sixteen months before his release.

- His older brother is Vinnie Johnson — the Microwave of the Bad Boys Pistons. One brother won titles in Detroit while the other fought for minutes in Utah.
- Averaged 31 points a game as a senior at Franklin D. Roosevelt High in Brooklyn, where Vinnie had averaged 24.
- He spent his Jazz season competing with Delaney Rudd for the few minutes behind John Stockton, and Rudd got most of them.
- Asked about his chances at the 1989 free-agent camp he said simply that all he had to do was go to California and be perfect.
- He became the first North American perimeter player in Pamesa Valencia's history, recruited out of an Alcoy summer league.
- He took Spanish citizenship and played 164 games in the ACB at 9.9 points, remembered there as an excellent defender.
