Missouri's Gatorade Player of the Year out of Grandview High, Burks became Colorado's first Big 12 Freshman of the Year in 2010 and left school after two seasons. Utah took him 12th overall in 2011, and he gave the Jazz seven seasons — a career-high 34 points in 2014, a four-year, 42-million-dollar extension, and a string of cruel injuries to his shoulder, fibula and ankle.
Traded to Cleveland for Kyle Korver in November 2018, he became a well-traveled veteran — Kings, Warriors, Sixers, later Miami. In January 2020 he gave up his No. 8 at Golden State to wear 20, out of respect for Kobe Bryant days after the crash.
HOW HE CAME & WENTUtah drafted him 12th overall in 2011 and kept him eight seasons. Down to 15.8 minutes a night, he was traded to Cleveland with two second-round picks on November 29, 2018 for Kyle Korver — the shooter the club wanted around Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert. His teammates were shocked.
