Jared Butler

Reserve, Louisiana watched him make the varsity as an eighth-grader, and Baylor watched him become a consensus first-team All-American. Butler led the Bears to the 2021 national championship and was named Final Four Most Outstanding Player. Cleared by an NBA fitness-to-play panel that summer, he went 40th in the draft and landed with the Jazz, where he played his rookie season and scored a career-high 21 points against the Clippers in March 2022.

The road since has wound through Oklahoma City, Washington and Philadelphia — 11.5 points a game in 28 outings for the 76ers in 2025 — before he signed with Crvena zvezda in Belgrade to play EuroLeague basketball.

HOW HE CAME & WENTNew Orleans took him 40th overall in 2021 and his rights reached Utah by way of Memphis, after a pre-draft fitness panel had knocked him out of the first round. The Gobert and Mitchell trades then buried him in guards, and on October 15, 2022 the Jazz cut him at the deadline to reach the 15-man limit — eating the $1.56 million left guaranteed on his deal.
