His father had him brushing his teeth left-handed at age nine to build ambidexterity, and it paid off: Burke swept nearly every 2013 National Player of the Year award at Michigan and carried the Wolverines to the NCAA title game. Minnesota drafted him ninth that June and traded him to Utah the same night. He finished third in Rookie of the Year voting and ran the Jazz offense for three seasons.
A Columbus kid whose childhood best friend was Jared Sullinger, Burke later suited up for Washington, New York, Dallas, and Philadelphia, rebuilding his stock in the G League with Westchester along the way, and now plays for Astros de Jalisco in Mexico.
HOW HE CAME & WENTMinnesota took him ninth overall in 2013 and traded him to Utah for the 14th and 21st picks, because the Jazz wanted a point guard. He lost the starting job, and once George Hill arrived in 2016 Utah sent him to Washington for a second-rounder.
