In 1993 he was the top-ranked high school player in America — ahead of Rasheed Wallace and Jerry Stackhouse — a New Orleans prodigy who shared national co-player of the year honors with Jason Kidd. Knee injuries rewrote the story: 32 games in two years at LSU, then eleven NBA seasons spent proving himself for nine teams, with the Jazz among his stops. His 203 career games remain the fewest ever across 11-plus NBA seasons.

Coaching became the second life. After an MVP season and a title with the D-League's Idaho Stampede, who retired his jersey, Livingston returned to Isidore Newman, won state crowns in 2022 and 2023 later contested in a recruiting dispute he fought in court, and coached a young Arch Manning along the way.
