Little Rock's Parkview High sent him off as Arkansas Gatorade Player of the Year, and at Minnesota he led the Big Ten in scoring at 23.1 points as a senior. The Jazz took him 19th overall in 1999, and he spent three seasons in Utah before the road led to Maccabi Tel Aviv, Olympiacos, and Spain's Bilbao.
The relationship with the franchise never really ended. After a master's degree, athletic-department roles at Minnesota, and television work covering the Timberwolves, Lewis returned in 2022 as the Jazz's Director of Alumni Relations. His daughter Ti'are played college soccer in Salt Lake City at Westminster University.
HOW HE CAME & WENTUtah took him 19th overall in 1999, at the tail end of the Stockton-and-Malone era. His contract ran out after 2001-02 and he was one of six free agents the Jazz did not re-sign. He went to Maccabi Tel Aviv.
