John Brown

Missouri through and through — Dixon High School, then the Missouri Tigers, who retired his No. 50 in 2019. Brown made the 1972 U.S. Olympic team, though injury kept him out of the Games. Atlanta drafted him tenth overall in 1973 and he made the NBA All-Rookie Team the following spring.

The Jazz closed out his NBA chapter, his final season split between Atlanta and Utah, after which he played several more years in Italy. A footnote for trivia collectors: he was the last player ever drafted by the Dallas Chaparrals before that franchise became the San Antonio Spurs.

HOW HE CAME & WENTAtlanta's tenth pick in 1973 finished his career with the Jazz in the club's first Salt Lake City season.
