Salt Lake City's own — Highland High, then the University of Utah — Judkins was taken by Boston in the second round of the 1978 draft, the Celtics' next pick after Larry Bird. He was the last Celtic to wear No. 32 before Kevin McHale arrived, and his five NBA seasons included a hometown stop with the Jazz in 1980-81.
Coaching defined the longer arc: assistant years at Utah under Rick Majerus and at BYU, then 21 seasons as BYU's women's head coach with ten NCAA tournament trips before retiring in 2022. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he is married with five children and 21 grandchildren.
HOW HE CAME & WENTUtah signed him as a veteran free agent on July 28, 1980 and traded him to Detroit a year later for the third-round pick that became Jerry Eaves.
