Big East Rookie of the Year at Georgetown after a McDonald's All-American career in Harvey, Louisiana, Monroe went seventh overall to Detroit in 2010. He was the last Piston to wear No. 10 before it was retired for Dennis Rodman, and strung together three straight seasons of 1,000 points and 600 rebounds. A $50 million deal took him to Milwaukee in 2015, and his Jazz stop came near the end of a career that also passed through Phoenix and Boston.
With the Celtics in 2018 he recorded a triple-double — 19 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. The game brought him back to Louisiana: Monroe now works as a player development coach for the New Orleans Pelicans.
HOW HE CAME & WENTHe signed a 10-day contract on March 28, 2022 — his fourth NBA club that season and one of the briefest stops of his career. It was also his last NBA game.
