Yale rarely sends players to the NBA, but Mbeng earned it with three straight Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year awards, the 2025 Ivy Player of the Year trophy, and the second triple-double in program history. Utah signed him to a 10-day contract in March 2026 and started him within a week.
On April 10 he posted 27 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists off the bench while teammate John Konchar added a triple-double of his own, making them the first teammates in NBA history to each record one off the bench in the same game. The Jazz rewarded him with a two-year contract.
HOW HE CAME & WENTHe signed a 10-day contract on March 13, 2026 and played the same night, going for four points, four rebounds and four assists in 34 minutes against Portland. The contract ran its ten days out and was not renewed.
