Twenty bowls of cereal a week fed a country-strong kid from rural Whitmire, South Carolina, who became the state's Gatorade Player of the Year and a first-team All-ACC senior at Clemson. Drafted 23rd in 2010 and dealt to Washington on draft night, Booker joined Utah on a two-year, $10 million contract in 2014 and had his career night as a Jazzman — 36 points against Portland in April 2015.
His parents Gerald and Tracey were both accomplished athletes, and it was his mother who drew her sons to basketball by showing them highlights of her own high school playing days. Booker's eight NBA seasons closed with stops in Brooklyn and Philadelphia.
HOW HE CAME & WENTWashington declined to tender a qualifying offer, so Utah signed the unrestricted free agent on July 21, 2014 for two years and $10 million. Two seasons later, with Trey Lyles emerging, he left in free agency for Brooklyn.
