An All-ACC second team pick at Maryland who played for three head coaches in four years, Massenburg was drafted 43rd by San Antonio in 1990 and then simply kept packing: his 12 NBA franchises tied the league record of his day. The Jazz were his 2002–03 stop, and in 2005 he became the first player to win a championship after playing for at least a dozen teams — back where he started, in San Antonio.

Six weeks after that title, a late-night car accident wrecked his ankle and effectively ended his career. He opened the 44 Sports Bar in Maryland, named for his jersey number, co-wrote the book 'Lessons from Lenny,' and saw his number retired at Sussex Central High in Virginia.

HOW HE CAME & WENTThe much-travelled big man signed with Utah as a free agent in December 2002 and left as a free agent the next July, one of his twelve NBA franchises, a record he shared at the time.
