Growing up in Lubumbashi in the DR Congo, Tshiebwe played soccer and trained by running hills and a mountain near home — he did not start basketball until May 2014. Eight years later he was consensus national player of the year at Kentucky, once pulling down a Rupp Arena-record 28 rebounds. Undrafted in 2023, he set a G League single-season rebounding record with Indiana, then signed a two-way deal with the Jazz in August 2024.
Utah watched the rebounding follow him up a level: 8.7 boards a night in 2024-25, then a career-best 22-rebound game and a 29-point night in April 2026. That July the Houston Rockets signed him — the mountain runner from Lubumbashi, still climbing.
