A 7-foot-2 center from Jersey City, Wright played for Bob Hurley at St. Anthony and two seasons at Seton Hall before the Jazz made him the 18th pick of the 1993 draft. He arrived in Utah out of shape at 325 pounds, on a roster already stocked with Mark Eaton and Felton Spencer, and his NBA career lasted 15 games.
His Jazz contract continued to pay him 153,000 dollars a year for 25 years.
HOW HE CAME & WENTUtah took him 18th overall in 1993. Bipolar disorder ended the season and the career — in January 1994 police found him at a highway rest area west of Salt Lake City, smashing car windows. He never played in the NBA again.
