For many of them, this page is the only one on the internet. Here is Isaac Austin: what he did on the floor, a few things most people never knew, and every card that carries his name. The Jazz found Ike Austin at Arizona State and drafted the 6-foot-10 center 48th in 1991, but two points a game as a rookie hinted at little. The turnaround came in Turkey — 22.3 points and 13.9 rebounds a night for Tuborg Izmir — and he returned to win the NBA's Most Improved Player award with Miami in 1997. His best season followed: 13.5 points and 7.1 rebounds split between the Heat and Clippers.
After his NBA career ended in 2002, he bought and coached the ABA's Utah Snowbears, went 27-1 in their first season, then forfeited the playoffs and folded the team in a protest against league officials. His nephew Isaiah Austin played at Baylor.
HOW HE CAME & WENTUtah took the centre 48th overall in 1991. On November 2, 1993 the Jazz made their final cuts and released him — Jerry Sloan said the staff had decided to go in a different direction. Austin later said he never got the opportunity.

ISAAC AUSTIN · 8 NOTES- On the weight clause in his Jazz contract: "I passed every one of them, and I thought that was going to do it. But I didn't have the opportunity."
- Karl Malone said in 1997 he would take a pay cut to bring Austin back to Utah, adding simply that he knew Ike.
- He played all 82 games in 1996-97 filling in for the injured Alonzo Mourning in Miami.
- Pat Riley set him a fitness target at a 1996 Heat minicamp, then set a harder one, and Austin hit both.
- He grew up in Gridley, a farm town in the Sacramento Valley, and played his high school ball in nearby Oroville.
- The coaching staff had pushed him about his weight for two years — he was 287 pounds and the club wanted him at 275.
- Jerry Sloan on the cut: 'It was a very difficult decision. Corey and Ike have been with us before. It's not an easy thing.'
- Even after releasing him Utah went on paying the $400,000 he was owed for the season.
