J.J. O'Brien

One collector is trying to find a single signature from every man who ever played for the Jazz — all 370 of them, from the 1974 New Orleans team to today. For many of them, this page is the only one on the internet. Here is J.J. O'Brien: what he did on the floor, a few things most people never knew, and every card that carries his name. If you own something he signed — or you know who might — there is a note at the foot of this page.

His NBA career fit inside one 10-day contract, and he made it count for Utah — signed in January 2016 from the Idaho Stampede, the San Diego State forward debuted against the Lakers that very night and finished the season with D-League All-Rookie honors. Fittingly, he had begun college with the Utah Utes before transferring to the Aztecs, where he averaged 10.3 points as a senior.

Steadier paychecks waited abroad. O'Brien scored 15.9 a game for the Agua Caliente Clippers, then built a durable career overseas with BC Astana in Kazakhstan, Monaco and Nanterre in France, and Tofaş in Turkey, where he signed in 2023.

HOW HE CAME & WENTUndrafted, he came up through summer league and signed with Utah on August 28, 2015, was waived that October, then came back on a 10-day contract in January and debuted the same night.
