Rip City owes him the phrase — Barnett's rushed long-range heave for Portland in 1971 made announcer Bill Schonely shout the words that stuck to a whole franchise. An Oregon All-American taken eighth overall by Boston in 1966, the guard nicknamed Crazy Horse played 11 NBA seasons for seven teams, joining the expansion New Orleans Jazz for 1974-75 and averaging 11.7 points across 732 career games.

The microphone gave him a longer career than the jump shot: Golden State's television analyst from 1985 to 2019, and still working Warriors radio broadcasts today. He has a daughter, Jennifer, and a granddaughter, Stella.

HOW HE CAME & WENTThe Jazz took him from Golden State in the 1974 expansion draft, and traded him with Neal Walk to New York on February 1, 1975 for Henry Bibby, a first-round pick and cash.
