For many of them, this page is the only one on the internet. Here is Ira Terrell: what he did on the floor, a few things most people never knew, and every card that carries his name. Dallas made him — Roosevelt High School, then SMU across town — and the 6-foot-8 power forward reached the NBA in 1976. Terrell played three seasons for the Phoenix Suns, New Orleans Jazz and Portland Trail Blazers, averaging 7.0 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.
His season with the Jazz came in 1978-79, while the franchise still called New Orleans home. A short career, three uniforms, and a clean line in the record book — the honest shape of most NBA lives.
HOW HE CAME & WENTHe signed with New Orleans as a free agent on October 30, 1978 and was waived in mid-January, in the franchise's final Louisiana season.

IRA TERRELL · 6 NOTES- Phoenix drafted him 45th overall, in the third round, in 1976 — two years before he joined the New Orleans Jazz.
- He remains the only SMU Mustang ever to average a double-double for three seasons.
- SMU honored his No. 32 at halftime on January 12, 2019, joining Jim Krebs, Jon Koncak and Gene Phillips.
- In 1982 he played in the Philippine Basketball Association as an import for the U/Tex Wranglers.
- A Dallas kid from Oak Cliff, he stayed home for college and left SMU as its career rebounding leader.
- SMU Magazine described him as a self-proclaimed Mustang for life, decades after his last college game.
