One line in the NBA register is nearly all that survives of Duck Williams' career: Utah Jazz, 1979–80. Born Donald Edgar Williams in Demopolis, Alabama, in 1956 and raised in Washington, D.C., he reached the league for a single season.
Careers this brief leave almost no paper trail, which makes Williams exactly the kind of Jazzman this archive was built to find — a name on the roster that few remember and fewer have ever thought to ask for a signature.
HOW HE CAME & WENTNew Orleans drafted him 96th overall in 1978. He did not make the roster that year and debuted on October 12, 1979, by which point the franchise had moved to Salt Lake City.
