San Francisco raised him — Archbishop Riordan High, then college ball as a power forward at USC. The 6-foot-9 Munk reached the NBA with the Utah Jazz in 1990–91.
His playing trail later crossed the Pacific, with 22 games for the Brisbane Bullets of Australia's National Basketball League in 1995.
