Carl Kilpatrick

An eighth-round flyer by New Orleans in 1978 out of Northeast Louisiana, Kilpatrick averaged 18.5 points and 14 rebounds in the summer league yet was cut before the season. He went to the Montana Sky of the Western Basketball Association, re-signed with the Jazz in September 1979, and spent most of that year on the injured list — his NBA record is two late-season games.

In 1980–81 the 6-foot-10 center took his game to Finland, winning silver medals with Tampereen Pyrinto. His son Austin later played for Idaho State.

HOW HE CAME & WENTNew Orleans drafted him 158th overall in the eighth round of 1978, and he signed with the club again in September 1979 — by then it had moved to Salt Lake City.
