One collector is trying to find a single signature from every man who ever played for the Jazz — all 370 of them, from the 1974 New Orleans team to today. For many of them, this page is the only one on the internet. Here is Ben Handlogten: what he did on the floor, a few things most people never knew, and every card that carries his name. Grand Rapids raised him, and the NBA took its time: undrafted in 1996, Handlogten spent six seasons abroad — Turkey, Japan, Italy, and Greece, where he led the league in rebounding at 12.8 a game — before Utah signed him at 29 in the fall of 2003. An ACL tear ended that first Jazz season after 17 games, but he fought his way back onto Utah's roster in 2005.
Life after basketball ran through Charlotte, North Carolina: a real estate and construction company, a head coaching job at SouthLake Christian Academy, then an executive post at a medical supply firm. His son Micah plays for the Florida Gators.
HOW HE CAME & WENTHe signed as an undrafted free agent on September 30, 2003 and debuted at 29. On February 19, 2004 the Jazz traded him and Keon Clark to Phoenix, and the Suns waived him the next day.
