Out of Atlanta's Alonzo A. Crim High School and the University of Georgia, Anderson lasted until the 54th pick of the 1996 draft, where the Jazz found a ready-made wing. He spent his first three NBA seasons in Utah, then played for Houston, New York, and Miami across a ten-year career, peaking at 12.3 points per game with the Rockets in 1999-2000.
Basketball ran in the family — his older brother Willie Anderson played for the Spurs, Knicks, and Heat. Shandon closed his career with the 2006 NBA championship as a Miami backup, and today he is the head basketball coach at Dunbar High School in Fort Myers, Florida.
HOW HE CAME & WENTUtah took him 54th overall in 1996 and he played three seasons and two Finals runs. In 1999 he signed with Houston for less than the $3 million a year and the starting job Utah had offered, saying money did not overrule happiness.
