Meridian, Mississippi crowned him a state champion in 2011 before college took him from Mississippi State to Duke, where he captained the 2013-14 Blue Devils. Utah drafted him 23rd overall in 2014, and over four seasons Hood grew into a go-to scorer — a career-high 32 points in an overtime win over Memphis in January 2016, and his first NBA game-winner, a pull-up three with 0.8 seconds left against Dallas that December.
Traded to Cleveland in February 2018, he reached the Finals that spring, then journeyed through Portland, Toronto, Milwaukee, and the Clippers. A stranger footnote: he grew up next door to Paramore singer Hayley Williams in Meridian and never knew it until 2021.
