Wisconsin's leading scorer and shot-blocker in his lone Badger season after transferring from Boston College, Grant went 20th overall to Minnesota in 1997 — then lost his entire rookie year to a stress fracture in his foot. He was later packaged in the blockbuster Stephon Marbury trade to Milwaukee. The Jazz brought him to training camp twice, signed him on January 1, 2004, and after waiving him gave him a 10-day contract that same month.
When the playing stopped, Grant turned to teaching the game — coaching workouts for young players in Haverhill, Massachusetts, then joining the MIT men's basketball staff as an assistant coach in 2007. He came up through Michigan's Brother Rice High School.
