No Grizzly has matched him — Krystkowiak still holds the University of Montana's career records for points and rebounds and remains the only three-time Big Sky MVP. He played nine NBA seasons at power forward, mostly in Milwaukee, where he once averaged 12.7 points and 7.6 rebounds, with a 1992-93 stop in Utah.

His mother died of Hodgkin's lymphoma when he was eight, and at 15 he moved in with his older brother Bernie, who became his legal guardian. Coaching became the second act: head coach of the Bucks, then a decade leading the University of Utah, including a Sweet 16 run. He and his wife Jan have five children.

HOW HE CAME & WENTUtah acquired him from Milwaukee with Jay Humphries in June 1992, three years after reconstructive surgery on his left knee had cost him two seasons. He turned down a four-year Jazz offer, the club signed Tom Chambers instead, and he joined Orlando.
