San Francisco born, White played four years at Pepperdine before Detroit picked the 6'8" forward in the third round of the 1987 draft. He earned CBA All-Rookie honors with the Mississippi Jets, then reached the NBA with the Clippers and the Jazz between 1987 and 1989, averaging 6.1 points and 2.4 rebounds.

His Utah stay was a single 10-day contract and one game in January 1989, and that June Minnesota claimed him from the Clippers in the expansion draft — a brief window in the league for a power forward whose pro start had come in the minors.
