For many of them, this page is the only one on the internet. Here is David Benoit: what he did on the floor, a few things most people never knew, and every card that carries his name. Undrafted out of Alabama, he took the long road — a season in Spain — before the Jazz signed him in 1991, and the smooth-jumping forward spent five seasons at small forward alongside Stockton and Malone, even placing fourth in the 1993 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. After stops in New Jersey, Orlando and two years with Maccabi Tel Aviv, he returned to Utah in 2000 to close his NBA book where it opened.
He then won a Chinese league title with the Shanghai Sharks playing beside a young Yao Ming, and finished his career in Japan. His jersey hangs retired at Lafayette High in Louisiana, and UFC champion Daniel Cormier is his cousin.
HOW HE CAME & WENTUndrafted, he signed as a free agent in 1991 and became a rotation regular for five seasons. Utah added Chris Morris at forward in October 1995, and after that season Benoit left as a free agent, signing with New Jersey in August 1996.

DAVID BENOIT · 6 NOTES- Went undrafted and still played seven NBA seasons, six of them in Utah.
- Played in the 1992 Western Conference Finals for Utah.
- Extended his career in Japan, where he became one of the league's early American stars.
- He came up through Tyler Junior College in Texas before two years at Alabama under Wimp Sanderson.
- Those Alabama rosters sent seven players to the NBA, among them Robert Horry and Latrell Sprewell.
- Alabama won the SEC tournament in both of his seasons and reached the 1990 Sweet 16.
