At Kansas he scored 50 points in a 1972 win over Missouri, earning consensus second-team All-America honors and Big Eight Player of the Year. The Seattle SuperSonics took the Alabama-born shooting guard seventh overall that spring. Two years later the expansion New Orleans Jazz claimed him in the 1974 expansion draft, and he spent three seasons with the young franchise.
His career ended abruptly when a back injury from an automobile accident in 1977 forced him out of the game at 27. Stallworth went back to school and finished what he started, graduating from Kansas in 1978 with a bachelor's degree in social work.
HOW HE CAME & WENTSeattle left him unprotected for the 1974 expansion draft and the brand-new New Orleans Jazz took him, making him one of the original members of the franchise.
